President Trump predictably sparked wild and wildly exaggerated outrage by the mainstream media and left-wing activists as well as many of the 2020 hopeful Dems when he sent a tweet on Sunday telling the members of the so-called Squad , Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar (if that is actually her name), Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, that they should go back to their countries and fix their problems first before they attack the US.
Many Democrats once again seized the opportunity to declare their fake outrage and, led by Nancy Pelosi, pushed through a resolution condemning the President’s remarks in record time with essentially a party-line vote in the house. Now there are many ways to look at the president’s remarks about the Squad and most are not very flattering. There are a few good arguments to be had why the president’s comments are not acceptable. Including of course the fact that all 4 members of the Squad are United States citizens and 3 were born in the US.
But with the focus of today’s Democrats on identity politics, the main argument against the President’s tweet is of course that the tweet was racist as it targets 4 women of color. The Dems and the fake mainstream media don’t seem to care about the anti-Semitic and anti-American vitriol these Squad members are spewing on an almost daily basis. Especially one of the congresswomen, Ayanna Pressley, took this even further and made some outrageous comments herself.
What happened at Netroots?
Ayanna Pressley was speaking at Netroots Nation, an ultra-left-wing gathering in Philadelphia. During her speech, Pressley made clear how she really feels about people of color, Muslim faith and the members of the LGBTQ community.
“We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. We don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice. We don’t need Muslims that don’t want to be a Muslim voice. We don’t need queers that don’t want to be a queer voice. If you’re worried about being marginalized and stereotyped, please don’t even show up because we need you to represent that voice.”
Did we hear this right? Pressley is telling people of color to shut up and stay away unless their opinion matches hers. She is telling Muslims that they are not welcome to speak unless of course they faithfully repeat what she and her Democratic gang are pushing forward. She is telling members of the LGBTQ community that they should shut up if their voices are different from what she considers acceptable left-wing identity politics.
Pressley elevated herself and the rest of the Squad as the ultimate moral thought police that determines what is ok to say and what is not. Of course, the mainstream media and the identity politics Dems try to ignore or minimize her statements. Predictably, Pressley’s incredible remarks barely gained any coverage.
What are “authentic” brown, black, Muslim or Queer Voices?
Pressley’s remarks are problematic on so many levels, but at the very least and most evidently they are exclusionary and stereotype-bound. What does Pressley consider an authentic black voice? What about black Americans who oppose race-based affirmative actions or who oppose the killing of unborn black children in the third trimester or even after they are born. Are those not “authentic” black voices. It’s true that these opinions differ from Pressley’s but does that make them “non-black” voices.
What about the millions of Hispanic Americans that oppose illegal immigration and stand for strong borders and the enforcement of our immigration laws. Are they not speaking in a “brown” voice? Or the Muslim Americans that welcome Israel and the Jewish faith while denouncing the terror that spreads from vast areas in the Middle East including Palestine? Do they not speak in a “Muslim” voice? Or what about the millions of gay and lesbian citizens who did not join the latest Rainbow Parade or flaunt their sexual orientation at any opportunity? Are these voices not “queer” enough?
Ayanna Pressley is telling Americans of color, Islamic faith, and alternate sexual orientation that their opinions are only valid as long as they channel her opinions and the opinions of what the Democrats believe their demographic should be thinking. If you think for yourself you are not welcome. Conform or shut-up!
As usual, the left only embraces diversity as long as it follows Democratic conformity. If you divert from the Democratic dogma you are not only not welcome but you are not allowed to speak and even worse you are not “really“ black, brown, Muslim or a member of the LGBTQ community.
