Jussie Smollett was cleared of all charges because he is not a ‘violent’ threat to the community, prosecutors said on Tuesday after sensationally dropping 16 felony counts of lying to the police.
The Cook County’s State’s Attorney’s Office said that it prioritized ‘violent crime’ and that Smollett’s alleged wrongdoing did not fall into that category but warned that the decision to drop the charges did not exonerate him.
