Nancy Pelosi is claiming that President Donald Trump only wants to “make America white again” as a result of his desire to add in the citizenship question to the 2020 census. The California dem, as well as many of the other Dems around the nation, want to leave the question off because they don’t want people who are in the country illegally from responding.
Pelosi doesn’t want the question on the census because she doesn’t agree with it. She feels that it won’t give the country a good indication of who is really there. However, she seems to have forgotten that those who are in the country don’t have a right to be here. They’re illegal and, therefore, they shouldn’t be counted because they shouldn’t be given any aid.
She has gone on record, calling it “disgraceful.” This, according to the speaker, is Trump’s way of keeping American white again.
What she fails to realize is that there are plenty of people in the country who aren’t white and who are here illegally. She calls those who fill out the sense as the people of the Republicans. She, apparently, does not identify herself as a legal citizen who is white in color.
The Battle Over the Question
The Commerce Department announced that it would be added to the census. At that point, the controversy began – most likely because it would intimidate noncitizens. Since the Dems are all about catering to those who aren’t in the country legally, they don’t want the question. These are the same Dems that would rather give everyone the same freedom, including voting rights.
The overzealous Dems have even gone as far as holding Attorney General William Barr as well as Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt as a result of the dispute. The Dems want to see the minutes from the meeting in which it was decided to add the question. However, it’s not their right to ask for it. It was agreed upon in a special committee designed to decide if it should be a part of the census or not. They’re just bitter that it is being added.
The results of the census are used to determine where federal resources go as well as to draw congressional districts. Adding the question could prevent illegals from answering. In communities (and states) where there are large numbers of illegals, it could reduce the number of representatives from the state and prevent them from getting added funding. However, it could be argued that they don’t need the funding because they’re not in the country legally. Further, the Representatives are designed to represent the voice of the American people, as in, the people who are here legally. Basing districts on anything other than that would be unfair.
The Real Problem with Pelosi’s Comment
Pelosi has managed to insult a large number of people with her comments about the census question making America white again. She took a shot at Trump because he’s white, forgetting her own color. She’s angry that he’s still in power and she’s getting sloppy with the comments that she makes.
While 72 percent of America represents themselves as white, there’s still another 28 percent who doesn’t – and they’re in the country legally. This includes those who are Black/African American, Native American, and Hispanic/Latino.
America is a melting pot, however. There are plenty of people who have mixed backgrounds. They’re Asian and Black, they’re white and black, they’re Hispanic and white. Very few people are white alone anymore – and Pelosi has basically alienated an entire nation because of her quick-witted words meant to cut Trump and Trump alone.
Saying that Trump wants to make America white again would imply that it was white, to begin with. It’s never been that way entirely, as evident with the presence of Native Americans from the very beginning. It’s why Sacajawea made it onto a silver dollar. It’s why there are statues around the country of Martin Luther King. It’s why Harriet Tubman shows up in history books. Non-whites have always been a part of American history.
The only difference is that those who were here before came here legally. They didn’t jump a fence in Mexico to enter the country illegally and try to get all of the government benefits.
If Pelosi got her way, borders would be open and the government would fund everyone. The census question may or may not end up on the census. What matters is that Trump is looking out for Americans.
