Editing is a powerful asset to the media.
However, editing did not work in Democrat’s favor or in favor of Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota when she delivered a speech in what most believe as a reference to the attack on 9/11
.She was speaking out against Islamophobia at a rally in March which was put on by the Council on American-Islamic Relations Protest took place outside as she spoke these words inside the rally when she called for “fellow Muslims to raise hell and make people uncomfortable as they seek to defend their rights.”
It was these four words that raised eyebrows and sparked attention to her speech when she referred to 9/11, “Some people did something.”
The entire video was edited after the statement, but it did not make any difference whether it was edited or not because the statement was made.
It is clearly concerning 9/11, and the edited version which was cut out was only meant to cover up what was said, “For far too long, we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen and, frankly, I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it,” she stated in the middle of the speech.
“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.
So you can’t just say that today someone is looking at me strange and that I am trying to make myself look pleasant.
You have to say that, ‘This person is looking at me strange. I am not comfortable with it, and I am going to talk to them and ask them why.’ Because that is the right you have.”
President Trump responded with a tweet of the video of Rep. Omar speaking those words with a picture of the Twin Towers on fire and stated, “WE WILL NEVER FORGET!”
April 11, The New York Post put it on the front page along with Rep. Omar’s statement followed by their statement, “HERE’S YOUR SOMETHING.”
This angered many Conservatives and the American people alike.
Everyone who understood the statement in its context questioned if Rep. Omar, who is a Somali refugee was “an American first.”
Rep. Omar has had many death threats and the numbers went up after this statement was put out to the public and made national headline news.
There is no question or doubt that she said it.
What many people don’t understand is the rebuttal from the Democrats and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, “The memory of 9/11 is sacred ground, and any discussion of it must be done with reverence.
The President shouldn’t use the painful images of 9/11 for a political attack.
As we visit our troops in Stuttgart to thank them and be briefed by them, we honor our first responsibility as leaders to protect and defend the American people.
It is wrong for the President, as Commander-in-Chief, to fan the flames to make anyone less safe.”
Democratic Beto O’ Rourke who is a presidential candidate for the upcoming election in 2020 stated in response to the President’s tweet, “We are stronger than this president’s hatred and Islamophobia. Do not let him drive us apart or make us afraid.”
Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders also put in his two cents stating, “The function of a president is bringing our people together and Trump was failing at that.
Even conservative presidents have understood that.”
He continued, “George W. Bush — I didn’t have a lot in common with him. His views were very different than mine.
But remember what he did after 9/11?
He walked into a mosque to say that “criminals, terrorists, attacked the United States. Not the Muslim people.
That was a conservative Republican. We now have a president who, for cheap political gain, is trying to divide us up.”
President Trump has used Twitter to his advantage when it comes to getting the truth out to the public.
He is the most outspoken president our country has ever had.
I find it funny how he puts out the truth and he gets labeled a “racist” and a “divider”.
No matter what the president says, he always comes out on top with his name cleared.
When the Left countered this one, they really messed up and showed their true colors which editing can never erase the truth.
