If you have paid even the slightest attention to former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, you are well aware of the frequent and rather embarrassing gaffes he is prone to. As several have pointed out in recent days, it seems like the man cannot go one day or speaking event without saying something incorrectly and essentially putting his foot in his mouth.
It wouldn’t be a big deal if there were one every now and then, but, literally, every time Biden is put in the public eye, something is said that doesn’t bode well for the would-be President.
Many have blamed this on the rigors of the campaign trail, stating that it is exhausting and stressful work. And for the most part, I cannot argue with that. Being on the road 24/7, continually being pushed in front of cameras, and never seem to have a moment to yourself would indeed be draining. However, as someone who is supposed to be proving that he can handle this and much more as the Oval Office demands, Biden is doing a poor job.
Others have noted that Biden was born with a speech impediment or stutter, and this, not a faulty mind, was at fault for his mistakes. And they may have somewhat of a point. But as a lifelong stutterer and Daily Caller New Foundation editor Peter Hasson notes, this cannot be solely to blame either.
Hasson explained that a stutter, such as his and Biden’s, can cause quite a few problems in public speaking, in particular, certain words can be hard to say. Words like his former boss’s name have proved to be a difficulty for Biden in the past, causing him to eventually just use the phrase ‘my boss’ instead of saying, Barack Obama.
However, Hasson points out that many of Biden’s blunders have nothing to with certain words or phrases. Instead, they are more of a mental problem.
He says, “Stuttering can only explain why Biden sometimes has trouble articulating what he’s thinking. It can’t explain why he so often seems to think the wrong things.”
For example, his stutter could have something to do with why in a speech in Missouri this past weekend, he couldn’t seem to get out a line about reelecting Trump. His words got muddled, but they were focused on the same idea.
However, blunders, like when he told an autoworker in a Detroit Fiat plant on Tuesday that he was “full of sh–,“ as well as stating that he was suddenly for the Second Amendment when he has proposed otherwise, have nothing to do with a stutter.
Hassan said, “What’s really behind Biden’s mental misfires is up for debate but the vast majority of the time, it ain’t a childhood stutter. And anybody saying otherwise is either dishonest or uninformed.”
But Donald Trump Jr. thinks he knows what Biden’s problem is.
He wrote on Twitter on Tuesday, “From the Alzheimers association webpage,” to which he added the recently taken video of Biden cussing at and then threatening the auto worker earlier that day.
Don Jr. continued with, “’ Aggressive or angry behaviors may occur in people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias.’ A 50-year career politician doesn’t snap back this way to a blue-collar guy asking him a reasonable question given his party’s stance on the issue.”
And this isn’t the first time the former VP has acted in this manner. Remember when he was campaigning in Iowa, and a voter asked him about his son Hunter? Biden went off on the man, calling him fat and dumb and even challenging him to a pushup and IQ contest.
Then, at another campaign event, he physically poked and then shoved a potential voter, telling him to “Go vote for someone else.”
As another Trump son, Eric, says, if Biden were a Republican or if his father acted in this manner or said anything remotely similar, Congress would have his leadership revoked.
Eric Trump told Fox News hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum on Tuesday, “I don’t know what’s going on with Biden, but it is not looking good. There is something off there, and how many gaffes can you make every single day. If the roles were reversed – if my father were making the same gaffes as he was – they would literally invoke (the 25th Amendment).”
And Eric’s not wrong.
The simple fact is Biden is slowly losing it. Even his communications director can’t admit that he isn’t of sound mind.
