With all the mountains of negative coverage on Donald Trump coming from the fake news media, we really wouldn’t blame a person for thinking that he’s a little dirty.
In point of fact, he is a little dirty. His work in the White House is about redemption.
But we digress.
But if you give Trump nothing else, you have to grant him his talent in the realm of meme magic.
The guy knows how to manipulate the MSM. Perhaps his most startlingly effective superpower is his ability to take an opponent down with a finely crafted nickname.
So far, he’s set fire to his opponent’s wings with monikers like, “Crooked Hillary,” “Lyin’ Ted,” and “Low Energy Jeb.” And of course, we can never forget his magnum opus, “Pocahontas” AKA “Lie-a-watha.”
Well, now he’s outdone himself with his new name for Joe Biden, “Sleepy Joe.”
Sure, it’s not as funny as Lie-a-watha, but it fits Joe Biden perfectly.
Trump offered a warm welcome to the race with a ringing tweet that set Sleepy Joe’s new nickname in stone. It read;
“Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe. I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. It will be nasty – you will be dealing with people who truly have some very sick & demented ideas. But if you make it, I will see you at the Starting Gate!”
At first, the tweet seems brash- which is not outside of Trump’s character.
But on further consideration, particularly of the second sentence, the tweet feels like a respectful warning to an opponent that he doesn’t take that seriously.
To understand Trump’s tweets, you have to understand the culture that produced him.
He’s an old school, get-it-done type of guy. He sees wealth as a symbol of value provided to others.
What’s more, he is the product of a time when it didn’t shock people to hear men taunting each other in a competitive context.
Understanding Trump also requires one to understand the nature of men. Men taunt each other casually. It’s a way of saying “we are on the same team.”
It’s a way of saying “I want you to be better than you are so I can rely on you in a pinch.” Insult play is a way men bond with each other, because if a man can give his comrade a tongue-in-cheek insult without coming to blows, then they really are on the same team.
We have to explain these things because liberal victim culture and toxic feminism have made all things male verboten.
But when we know and accept these things about male psychology, what we wee in Trump’s tweet is a respectful warning to Biden.
He’s saying, ‘They are not going to treat you fairly, and if you make it through all of the lying and cheating- you’ll have to get through me.”
For someone like Trump to say, “see you at the starting gate” is an expression of respect.
In this case, the respect is conditional- conditional on Biden’s ability to wade through the Democrat swamp. Few will understand that, and fewer have the capacity to think in those terms. But that’s what he’s saying.
Now, with more than two dozen off the wall Democratic candidates in the running, the 2020 election looks like it’s going to be a clown car demolition derby.
There’s Beto, who will go along with any radical thing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says. (He probably has a crush on her. [Gross.])
There’s Bernie Sanders, of course, who can’t bring himself to promise to outlaw air travel- but who has been a card-carrying communist since the 1960s. (Yeah, we know he calls himself a “Democratic Socialist.”
But that’s a nonsense term and he really is a member of the communist party. We have video of him sitting shirtless and drinking with a bunch of ranking American commies in the 60s. (No joke.)
Okay… who else?
There’s Kamala Harris, the brutal prosecutor from Compton who imprisoned homeless moms for letting their children miss school.
The same Kamala Harris who says she smoked grass and listened to Tupac in her college days- before Tupac ever cut a record.
Then there’s Tulsi Gabbard. She’s pretty decent- except for the fact that she thinks healthcare can be given away for free.
That about wraps it up for the candidates worth taking seriously.
Outside of that, it’s really going to be a circus.
And, so far, the only one with the decency to call it like it is, is Trump.
